Going beyond: day after day going a little bit further – that drives us forward. In this way we develop new growth markets in the tourism business, such as in China, Russia and the Ukraine.
TUI China
In May 2011 the national tourism authority of China (CNTA) granted TUI China Travel Co. Ltd. an outbound licence that entitles the company to organise trips abroad for Chinese holidaymakers. TUI China is just one of three foreign companies and the only European tour operator to have been granted this licence.
"Recognising the market’s growth potential, we have invested in China and positioned the TUI brand early on. Our strategy has clearly been validated by the granting of the ‘outbound’ licence,” said TUI AG CEO Michael Frenzel. Prior to receiving the new licence, TUI China has focused on the inbound Chinese travel market. With the new license for international travel, TUI China will be able to further exploit the potential of the fast-growing Chinese tourism market.
TUI Russia & CIS
In 2010 TUI Russia & CIS started up business displaying the TUI brand in Russia and the Ukraine. The company is a joint venture between TUI Travel PLC and the Russian investment firm S-Group Capital Management. Applying the new brand concept TUI Russia & CIS intends to reach the top spot in the areas of customer service, best practice and product & experience offerings.
TUI Russia & CIS has been on the market since 15 April 2009. Part of the brand are the Russian companies VKO Group and Mostravel as well as the Ukrainian company Voyage Kiev, which every year sends over half a million customers to more than 20 holiday destinations. The joint venture runs more than 200 of it own and franchise travel agencies and employs over 1500 people. The primary goal of TUI Russia & CIS is to set up a tourism company in Russia and the CIS.
