What are the formative developments and trends of the coming decades? How do these trends affect the travel industry? What motivates the target groups of tomorrow? The Travel & Leisure think tank, launched by TUI AG at the start of 2011, has been dealing with these and other questions.
“The impacts on tourism of social and demographic changes as well as the impacts of external factors are growing. We want to get a head start in dealing with these issues and initiate today the discussion of solutions for tomorrow,” says TUI CEO Dr Michael Frenzel to elucidate the motivation behind this initiative.
TUI’s think tank provides the framework for organising debates on the future of travel and tourism, commissions the analysis of important future issues and is the umbrella for networking experts. The network not only comprises specialists from within TUI AG and its subsidiaries but also external experts from the travel and other industries, from academia as well as from market and trend research. This mix of expertise from different industries and disciplines and the diversity of experience and perspectives will positively affect the creative and productive processes of the think tank.
The aim is the create an instrument for identifying, discussing and appraising over the long term particularly influential and formative developments and trends. The issues on the TUI think tank agenda include the development of prosperity, social media, positioning holiday regions and new product worlds.
