The three-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) sandwich course which is focused in tourism, combines practical work at TUI with academic training at the Leibniz Academy in Hanover. The B.A. is a first vocational degree comparable with the university qualification of the same name.
The advantages of TUI’s sandwich approach are obvious: theoretical knowledge can be activated straight away in commercial practice. This ensures a rapid pace of learning. Besides, TUI pays both a trainee allowance and the tuition fees.
During the 12- to 14-week phases of practical training, you are introduced to different departments and companies in our Group. You will begin with deskwork in various commercial departments and then gradually be involved in projects. You can also acquire more in-depth practical know-how in areas that interest you particularly, such as marketing, HR and accounting, or financial auditing. Seminars and short courses on specific themes will give you that thorough grounding you will need in your future job.
The company-based training will primarily take place in Hanover. You may also work in subsidiaries at other sites. This training includes an assignment in a TUI destination in Germany or elsewhere.
The theoretical part of the training will take place at the Leibniz Academy in Hanover. Here, the knowledge you have acquired from practice will be expanded and deepened. The six blocks of theoretical training will each last 10 weeks.
To qualify for the three-year sandwich course you will need to have achieved good marks in the school exams leading to university entrance. Skills in Mathematics, German and English are especially important. An additional foreign language is desirable. Your strengths should include numerical skills and logical thinking. Sound IT skills would also be useful. We would like you to be friendly and creative, able to display initiative and energy. If you are also open-minded, motivated and flexible, love to learn and feel at ease in a communicative environment, you should send us your application. An internship in the tourism business or in another commercial sector makes your work profile perfect.
