Recommendation for your application

Application
The german word for application is Bewerbung. Part of this word is Werbung (which means marketing). So, take your application as a marketing tool. This means that you should give a personal touch to your application documents. Your documents are a first brand: attractive and authentic.
Be cautious with standardized exemplary cover letters and curricula vitae (CV) which you can find in several guidebooks.

Self-assessment
The judgement of your own personality is the basis for your application. When you know who you are and what you want, it will be easier for you to find the suitable vacancies and companies. The formulation of the cover letter will then not be that difficult for you. When asked of your strenghts and weaknesses you will be able to answer quickly and logical. Take your time for doing this judgement of your own personality – and most of all: be honest to yourself! Ask your friends, your family or colleagues how they would judge you and describe your personality. What do they like about you, what do they see critical about you. Different people will have a different perception of your person. You should then confront this feedback with your own judgement. And slowly but surely you will get a clear picture of the jigsaw of your personality.

SWOT-analysis
Think about drawing a SWOT-analysis of your personality. You certainly know the SWOT-analysis from your studies. SWOT means: Strengths – Weaknesses – Opportunities – Threats. One piece of paper will be sufficient. Strenghts are the things that you can do very well. Weaknesses are the things where you see improvement. Opportunities are the potentials you see in yourself. Threats are the barriers you see, the barriers that limit your potential. While working on your personal SWOT take a close look at our requirements for the mangement trainee programme. Ask yourself honestly where and to what extent you meet our requirements.

Personality
As we mentioned above, we are very much interested in your personality. So please let us know who you are. And please do not tell us about your internationality, your mobility and flexibility and your language skills. These are requirements that are a prerequisite and due to this characteristics which all the applicants offer us. We are looking for your personality. What makes you unique? How do you differ from all the others? And what makes you to the person you are?
It is up to you whether you will integrate these information in your SWOT-analysis or in an extra point of your application.

Cover letter
The cover letter should concentrate on the following four aspects:

  • The aim of your application (main subject within the Trainee Programme)?
  • Who are you?
  • What are your compentencies?
  • Why do you apply with TUI?
The starting date is also an important information, which should be in the cover letter. Keep it short on one page. The cover letter should not recall your whole life. Arouse interest and make us curious to continue with your CV.

Curriculum Vitae
Please try to limit your CV on two pages. Sometimes even one page is sufficient. Have an eye on a clear structure. You can either sort your dates in a chronological order or in an anti-chronological order.

Tipp
Keep your data as short as possible and as long as necessary. You would really do us a favour. The quicker we can get an overview over your personality and your competencies, the better.

Attachment
The attachment comprises your reports from school to university (A-levels diploma, university diploma) and the testimonials from your practical experiences. If you have not yet received your university diploma, an overview over so far reached grades will be sufficient.
