Annual Press Conference 2006 TUI AG has successfully completed the 2005 financial year. The Group’s core businesses tourism and shipping continued the positive trend of the previous year. Turnover in the tourism division rose 5.8 per cent to 14.1 billion euros, outperforming the global travel market. In shipping, turnover grew by 42.7 per cent to 3.8 billion euros. Overall Group turnover by divisions stood at 19.6 billion euros, an increase of 8.7 per cent year-on-year.

Prospects: TUI AG maintains its medium-term earnings goals for tourism. A further improvement in earnings is targeted in 2006. In particular in the large source markets Germany, UK and France, earnings have benefited from the cost-cutting and efficiency improvement programmes initiated in previous years. In shipping, the programme to integrate CP Ships is progressing according to plan. more ...

Annual Press Conference 2005 Group turnover totalled 18.0 billion euros, falling by 6.1% year-on-year. On a like-for-like basis, Group turnover rose by 7.3%.

In Dr Frenzel's view, tourism may again achieve double-digit growth in 2005. Following China and Russia, the focus will now be on India in order to tap an additional source market. more ...

Annual Press Conference 2004 TUI AG has held its own well in 2003, which was a difficult year for the holiday industry. 'Against this uniquely difficult background, our Group has coped well with the challenges. We stand solid as a rock in a competitive environment', said Dr Michael Frenzel, CEO of TUI AG, at the annual press conference in Hanover. Thanks to the Group's successful divestments and positive operating results of the divisions, he was able to present an extraordinarily good result. Earnings were clearly positive, even in the tourism business which was extremely difficult in 2003. Group profit for the year also rose strongly. Annual Press Conference 2003 TUI AG has made major strides in focusing on its business areas of tourism and logistics. In fiscal 2002, the company divested other non-core business areas and continued to reduce its debt as planned. At an early point in time, TUI AG initiated extensive cost-cutting measures and introduced a number of innovations in order to achieve a sustainable increase in the Group's profitability.

Dr. Michael Frenzel, the CEO of TUI AG, pointed out in this context: "In the rapidly changing environment, we repeatedly demonstrated our flexibility and adaptability. The Preussag tanker has been transformed into the TUI speedboat that will continue to benefit from its manoeuvrability and speed in future." more ...
