TUI AG will again be the only tourism group worldwide named to the World and Europe Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) as of 20 September 2010. Europe’s leading tourism group thus continually demonstrates its strong sustainability performance. In the annual review of the composition of the index, TUI AG scored best in several categories including risk management and compliance.
At the beginning of the year, TUI introduced a group-wide compliance management system. Initiatives include programmes to train all TUI employees regarding the TUI Code of Conduct. The Code addresses the fundamental values of legality, social and environmental responsibility, openness, tolerance and innovation. In the framework of the DJSI, TUI also obtained positive scores for its sustainability reporting and in the categories of human rights and stakeholder engagement. ‘We are delighted with this recognition of our efforts and will consistently continue the work we have started for a sustainable approach to business“, said Dr Peter Engelen, member of TUI’s Executive Board. He continued: ‘We have a strong tradition of sustainable development. As early as 20 years ago, TUI was the first large travel company to initiate an environmental and sustainability management system.’
