The SAM Group (Sustainable Asset Management) and the audit firm PwC have included TUI AG in the Sustainability Yearbook for the fourth time in succession. TUI has been highlighted as a SAM 2011 Gold Class award winner in the Yearbook and achieved a year-on-year improvement (previous year: SAM Silver Class).
“Many of our investors no longer base their investment decisions on economic criteria alone. For sustainability-oriented investors, the SAM Gold Class status marks TUI AG as a company living up to its environmental and social responsibility to a great extent,“ says Dr Peter Engelen, TUI AG Executive Board member whose responsibilities include Sustainable Development.
Only about 15% of the over 2,500 global players invited to participate in the assessment are included in the Yearbook. The target group of the publication are institutional investors. The idea of the Yearbook is to highlight good to excellent sustainability approaches in different sectors and the resulting challenges for companies.
Background: The TUI Group has been listed in leading sustainability indexes for many years. Since 29 September 2010, TUI AG has, for instance, again been the only tourism company worldwide to be named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World sub-sector Travel & Tourism). In the annual review of the composition of the index, TUI AG scored best in several categories including risk management, climate strategy and compliance.
