The tourism industry in Germany needs more efficient research and a tighter interrelationship between science and business. This is the outcome of a meeting held in Hannover today by leading tourism researchers. In their “5 Point Declaration“ scientists demand  more in-depth research in tourism and closer cooperation with the industry. The TUI think tank initiated the meeting.

“Leisure time and tourism are among the most important growth markets of the future. We therefore need to look ahead towards new products and the social changes and global challenges our industry is facing,“ said TUI Chief Executive Dr Michael Frenzel. He continued: “With the TUI think tank we want to provide a forum for discussion about the long-term development of the industry. The declaration we have issued today is a successful start in this direction.“

The TUI think tank was created by TUI AG at the beginning of 2011. TUI’s think tank provides the framework for organising debates on the future of travel and tourism, commissions the analysis of important future issues and is the umbrella for networking experts.
