Climate Protection
For years, TUI AG and its companies have been in intensive dialogue with politicians, scientists, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other social groups on the subject of climate protection and mobility. The subject of climate protection and climate repercussions for tourism has a high strategic priority.
2nd International Conference on Climate Change and Tourism, UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization)
TUI participates in the public debate on climate change through its co-operation with UNEP and UNWTO. The 2nd International Conference on Climate Change and Tourism will take place from 1-3 October 2007 in Davos, Switzerland. TUI will actively participate in "Panel 1" (Mitigation in the transport sector). [more]
TUI under the microscope
BAUM e. V. (Bundesdeutsche Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management - Federal German Work Group for Environmentally Responsible Management) investigated the climate protection policy of DAX-30 companies on behalf of the "Wirtschaftswoche" financial magazine. The focus of this March 2007 survey was what companies were doing right now on climate protection, and their plans for the future. [more]
TUI's climate activities
There should be absolutely no doubt about the priority given by market leader TUI to "CO2reduction" and "climate change assessment". We have the advantage of being able to influence the reduction potential along the whole tourism value chain, including the transport chain. And the progress we are making with "avoidance through improved energy efficiency" is implemented with the same commitment we apply together with governments and business partners to the issue of "adjustment" in all tourism destinations around the world. Despite the very superficial debate raging on air tourism and climate impact, we are very optimistic that we can achieve the climate objectives we have set ourselves for the benefit of the development of global tourism.
