Sport, whether on grass, ice or track, provides us with a bit of a break in our everyday lives. TUI, Germany’s leading tourism group, has found its mission here – to put a smile on people’s faces.
For several years now, the Hannover travel group has not only been a partner of many professional teams but has also been supporting several sporting events in Germany and abroad.
Hannover 96
TUI has been the main sponsor of Hannover 96 since the 2002/03 season. Since then the players of the Bundesliga club have been running across the pitch with a “smile on their chests”. TUI even recently extended the partnership for a further season until 2008 which makes the partnership one of the longest running amongst the current shirt sponsors in the premier league. Hannover Scorpions
TUI has also been supporting the ice hockey league club “Hannover Scorpions” as the main sponsor for several years. The professional ice hockey pros from Hannover have long been fixed greats on the German ice hockey scene and provide exciting top class sport on ice. In their home games in the TUI Arena, the Scorpions regularly show what they are capable of and make every visit a very special experience. TUI Palma de Majorca Marathon
In 2004 TUI became, for the first time, the main sponsor of the international marathon on the Spanish island of Majorca. Only a year later the Group took over all the organisation and project management of the marathon and so became the organiser of the annual run, which is held in October. Last year 4,000 runners from many different countries took part. Our goal is for more people to take part with a broad international participation. TUI Half Marathon/ Lower Saxony Spielbanken Marathon
You can see the joggers running everywhere: in the Eilenriede, around the Maschsee or on the running machines in the gyms. But it is not only in Hanover that jogging has become a craze. The endurance sport has become a favourite hobby throughout the whole of Germany and is also becoming increasingly popular competitively in the form of marathons.
As part of the Lower Saxony Spielbanken Marathon, TUI is name-giver to the TUI Hanover Half Marathon. This run ideally complements the TUI Palma de Majorca Marathon. It is held five months before the marathon in Spain and the 20km stretch offers, particularly for beginners, an excellent opportunity to practice and test their strength.
The fastest TUI employees even have the chance to qualify for the TUI marathon on Majorca. Five months ahead of the marathon in Spain, the half marathon is an excellent opportunity to take a test run and test endurance. Find out more at www.marathon-hannover.de
