Since 01 October 2009 TUI employees have been flying on their business trips on a carbon-neutral basis. TUI AG, TUI Deutschland and TUIfly compensate to 100 percent the carbon emissions of all the business trips by air of their employees. This compensation is made through the Futouris sustainability initiative and the Myclimate cooperation partner. The compensation payments are invested in specific projects for reducing CO2, at present these include a wind energy park near Izmir in Turkey. Moreover, options are being looked into for arranging business trips on land to be climate neutral.
Through its commitment to carbon-neutral travel TUI is sending a clear signal to customers, partners and competitors. Since the winter season of 2008/2009 holidaymakers have been able to voluntarily compensate through Myclimate for the carbon emissions produced by their holiday travel– not only when booking in a travel agency but also when booking via the internet.
