In 2002 TUI AG headquarters in Hannover introduced an Environmental Management System (EMS) with the aim to optimise internal environmental protection and to sensitize our colleagues.
The EMS ensures that the continuous improvement of environmental practices as well as the reduction of environmental impacts are permanent objectives for all corporate activities. New targets are set every year on the basis of systematic environmental monitoring. Their implementation is subject to internal and external auditing. The basis is compliance with all environmental legislation and standards.
The head office of Europe's leading travel group, TUI AG in Hanover, has been re-certified in accordance with international environmental standard DIN EN ISO 14001 by an independent expert from Intechnica in September 2009.
Both the in-house system (i.e. waste management, energy supplies) as well as the group-wide environmental management system (i.e. climate protection, biodiversity strategy) gained the world-wide recognised certification seal for environmental standards.
The certification will be valid until autumn 2012. In 2010 an external review of the EMS will take place at TUI AG.
