Energy

TUI AG: Nachhaltigkeit, Energie / energy

The efficient use of energy in the various divisions of our company not only reduces the effects we have on the environmental and the climate, but also results in considerable cost reductions.

TUI Airlines

The majority of our energy requirements goes into the operation of the TUI Airlines. Yet by introducing comprehensive programmes for improving the efficiency of flight planning, flight operations and engineering it is possible to achieve significant energy savings.
The airlines of the TUI Group have developed a checklist of more than 30 individual measures for continuously reducing emissions caused by flight operations. more...

TUI Hotels & Resorts

The use of regenerative energy for conserving resources and protecting the climate is an important part of the environmental commitment of TUI Hotels & Resorts. more...

  • To reduce the electricity consumption within hotels RIU has stipulated in its purchasing policy the use of energy-saving lamps in almost all areas of its hotels.
  • Energy management systems, master switches and contact breakers for air conditioning /heating in all guest rooms at ROBINSON prevent wasting energy.
  • Technical innovation: Running the main laundry with an ozone system in the ROBINSON Club Cala Serena enables the washing temperature to be reduced by 80% and does away with the need for daily laundry transportation by trucks.

Cruises

Climate relevant emissions are caused by burning fuel on ships. Different types of fuel are used not only for propulsion but also for generating power on board. The combustion of fuels causes the release of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and other gases, as well as fine dust.

Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten uses ships incorporating the latest environmental technology. Modern engines enable a more efficient use of fuels. In the Arctic and Antarctic the ships use marine diesel oil rather than heavy fuel oil.

By suitably adjusting the cruising speed, the amount of fuel used can be reduced by an above average amount. Not only Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten but also TUI Cruises pursues systematic route management.
