Peter Maffay Foundation
Peter Maffay and his dragon Tabaluga care for children in need: the Peter Maffay Foundation and the Tabaluga Children’s Foundation help children and young adults traumatised by violence, serious illness or disabilities. In Bavaria a number of care and therapy centres have been running since 2000 to look after children in need.
In the summer of 2003 the Peter Maffay Foundation opened a holiday “finca” on Majorca. Since then children and their carers have been able to combine therapy and holiday fun at Finca C’an Llompart in Pollenca. In exchange, children in need of care on Majorca can spend their holidays at Tabalugahof in Peißenberg, Bavaria. For years there have been no worries about the return flight. From the very beginning TUI AG has undertaken to pay the costs of the flights between Majorca and Munich for the carers and children. By taking on this commitment with this international exchange TUI wants to make a contribution to giving the traumatised youngsters a new perspective.
Futouris e.V.
The non-profit association Futouris that was formed in 2009 places its emphasis on global dialogue with the host population. The founding members are besides TUI AG, also TUI Deutschland, TUI Austria, TUI Suisse, TUI Leisure Travel, Gebeco and airtours.
Futouris is involved in projects for improving living conditions, for promoting educational measures, for protecting nature and the environment, and for preserving biological diversity. The German Travel Association (DRV) has taken over as the patronage, and the initiative is to be developed into a solution for the tourism industry. Moreover, it is intended that people responsible in the destinations, in environmental and development organisations, employees, travel consultants and customers are included in what’s happening. Supported among others is the "Growing the Future" training project by the Grootbos Foundation in South Africa. Here, as part of an education programme, unemployed women in the Gansbaai region are being given state recognised agricultural training. Those who successfully complete the course receive a piece of land.
