Member of the executive board of TUI AG responsible for the Human Resources and Legal Affairs division
Dr Peter Engelen was born on 2 September 1956 in Wiesbaden. After matriculating from school he studied law at the universities in Gießen, Göttingen and Hanover and completed his studies in 1983, passing the two state juridical examinations. In 1992 he obtained a Dr jur doctorate.
1984 Engelen joined the Preussag AG as aide for industrial law. Subsequently he held various managing positions at Preussag. In 1991 he became head of the department of Human Resources and Salaries.
From 1995 to 2001, he was head of the main department of Group Labour Relations at AG.
With effect from 1 May 2001 Engelen was appointed member of the executive board and personnel director at Preussag AG.
On the basis of the decision made at the shareholders’ meeting Preussag AG was renamed TUI AG on 1 July 2002.
Engelen is responsible for the Human Resources and Legal Affairs division which includes the areas Environmental Management, Real Estate Management and TUI Insurance Services. He is moreover the Chief Compliance Officer of the TUI Group.
