Year of the Dolphin in Kenya TUI Service Kenya and Pollmans Tours & Safaris support the UNEP campaign

TUI Kenya and Pollmans have started in the Year of the Dolphin.
The Year of the Dolphin campaign already kicked off prior to the official start on 01.01.2007: the first initiatives were launched early in the TUI destinations in Kenya on 25.11.2006. An opening celebration was held at the Shimoni coastal resort to festively inaugurate the Year of the Dolphin. The event was organised with the involvement of TUI Service Kenya and the TUI destination agency Pollmans Tours & Safaris, who work together with Charlies Claw Wasini Island, and numerous other local and international organisations such as KWS (Kenya Wildlife Service), World Vision, and the East African Wildlife Society.
As Armagan Günaydin, TUI Kenya destination manager says: “The Year of the Dolphin 2007 brings Kenya’s coast into environmental focus once again and ensures that numerous environmental organisations, as well as local fishermen and the tourism industry, will work hand in hand to protect the natural beauty of Kenya’s coastline and safeguard it for future generations.”
The issues of dolphins and marine protection were playfully interpreted by classes of schoolchildren during the celebration. The schoolchildren raised the awareness of their fellow pupils in small stories performed on stage. The opening celebration was also broadcast across the country in the evening news by two local TV stations.
