Questions and answers about jobs and careers at TUI
As Europe’s leading tourism group, we have many interesting and attractive positions to choose from – and not just in the tourism field. The World of TUI offers stimulating challenges for your personal career.
Depending on whether you are a school leaver, student, graduate or experienced professional, the various entry options that are open to you are explained in the section entitled “Joining TUI”.
We offer positions at many different locations. The locations at which we currently have concrete vacancies can be chosen directly by using the relevant search function in the “Vacancies” section of our website. Generally speaking, you can work in local travel agencies, on board our aircraft or cruise ships, at our holiday destinations all over the world or in the nerve centres of our various business sectors.
We regularly participate in various recruiting events and would be pleased to talk to you there. By checking regularly under “Trade Fairs and Events”, you can find out where to meet us in person.
In order for an application to be complete, we require you to submit the following:
- Cover letter
- CV (in tabular form)
- Certificates on internships, language study trips, language courses and periods spent abroad
- Copies of school reports
Most trainee positions are applied for online. Our online application portal can be accessed via the vacancy in question. If the option of online application is not available, the job vacancy description also includes the name of the person to contact.
As a rule, you should send a separate application for each traineeship position. This is because applications are forwarded to different people within our group companies. For traineeship positions within TUI InfoTec, applicants only need to submit one application each. In your application, please indicate the key areas in which you are interested. The same applies if you are a tourism manager who is interested in applying for different locations or different key areas. In your cover letter, please state the key area/locations (e.g. Munich Airport, Hamburg Airport) in which you are interested.
Application periods for traineeship positions vary quite a lot. In most cases, the application period begins around 15 months before the traineeship is due to start. All traineeship positions that are currently available can be found under “Vacancies”.
The application deadlines vary according to traineeship. Because of this, please refer to the deadlines stated in the vacancy description in question.
Please submit a copy of your last two school reports or of your school-leaving examination certificate (“Abitur”, A-levels or equivalent) and intermediate school examination (e.g. “Mittlere Reife”, GCSE or equivalent).
Yes, you should provide certificates or written confirmations as evidence of all relevant activities, particularly internships that you have completed.
Traineeships begin in August of each year.
In general, traineeships last 2.5 years for candidates who have completed schooling and have attained the general higher education entrance qualification. For candidates with other school-leaving qualifications, traineeships last three years. The dual study programme leading to a Bachelor of Arts takes 3 years (6 semesters) and technical traineeships with TUIfly take 3.5 years.
While working in the various departments, you will be supervised by the designated trainers who will introduce you to your new functions and will be at hand to answer any questions you might have. The training team or the training officer in the relevant Group company will be your main point of contact throughout the entire traineeship period.
There is a wide range of training options available at TUI, such as studying part-time while working. We are generally interested in taking on committed trainees and, when your traineeship period comes to an end, would be happy to examine the possibilities open to you in the company.
We offer both internships and part-time jobs for students. It is also possible for students to write their university dissertation while working in our company. We admit it: Hanover is not as sexy as Berlin or as Italian as Munich. But at the same time, Hanover is simply ... underrated. For instance, Hanover is the greenest city in Germany and has the largest city forest in Europe. Shopping, nightlife, culture, nature, public transport and – perhaps most important of all – housing: all of these are available here at high quality and at fair prices. To find out more, please see the section entitled “Hanover”.
