Joining the Aviation leadership team as Head of Engineering & Maintenance Finance, you will be accountable for developing and proactively providing robust and insightful tools and reporting to optimise the efficiency and performance of the Engineering & Maintenance functions for the benefit of the Aviation COO, Engineering & Maintenance Director and FDs and their teams.The way we work across the TUI Group is changing. The Engineering and Maintenance Finance team is responsible for the financial direction, and driving financial delivery for key operational decisions across all markets.This role can be based in either our Luton, Brussels or Hannover office. What you will be doing

As the Head of Engineering & Maintenance Finance, your role will own overall accountability for leading the achievement of the finance functions objectives by organising and managing the strategic development of the functions financial, day to day finance activities and reporting services. In co-operation with Engineering & Maintenance functional Director and their teams and in partnership with all TUI Airline Finance Directors.

The role will take financial responsibility for the forecast, balance sheet and actual performance of Engineering and Maintenance across Aviation. This role will be fundamental in establishing the financial activities of the central Engineering and Maintenance reserving function to ensure alignment across Aviation and implementation of IFRS 16 accounting. It will ensure financial control and governance is at the heart of all decision making.

Alongside the leadership teams and all TUI Airline Finance Directors you will be responsible for ensuring that the Engineering & Maintenance target and financial objectives within the five year plan are being achieved.

The role will also define and build the Engineering & Maintenance finance model to support the functional leads to manage their business across the airlines effectively. You will shape and lead a reliable, structured, effective and knowledgeable pan-European finance team to business-partner Engineering and Maintenance functions and work in close collaboration with their partner finance teams in all TUI Airlines.

The Head of Engineering and Maintenance Finance will drive financial ownership and understanding across the Engineering and Maintenance to ensure financial delivery is at the heart of decision-making. The role will support, challenge and influence the Engineering and Maintenance leadership team in meeting their short term financial targets and budgets, whilst ensuring long term financial implications are understood and considered

The Engineering & Maintenance Finance team will work closely with their counterparts in the TUI Airlines, to develop a comprehensive understanding of €0.5bn spend and €1.0bn balance sheet across the TUI Aviation community, and develop on behalf of Aviation a single view of significant contracts, and cost levers across a breadth of Engineering and Maintenance integrated functions to enable credible oversight and challenge of costs across TUI Aviation and supporting the requirements of all TUI Airline Finance teams.

As a partner to the Engineering and Maintenance Director and Airline FDs, this role will deliver the Aviation 5 year financial targets and strategy. Working in partnership with all TUI Airline FDs, the team will create and present financial story, ensuring Engineering and Maintenance take ownership of functional cost bases. The Head of will lead the cost optimisation approach, including identification of new financial opportunities and translating the Engineering and Maintenance strategy and objectives into cost optimisation deliverables.

Through robust and credible relationships at all levels of the TUI Airline and TUI Airline Finance teams, the Engineering and Maintenance Finance team will co-create innovative financial solutions suited to a pan-European environment, and develop market intelligence through analysis of developments and trends, review of competitor financial performance, and across airline benchmarking.

What we are looking for

  • Qualified accountant, with substantial and broad post-qualified experience (previous experience in aviation/travel industry preferred)
  • Significant experience of supporting and business partnering senior teams (previous experience in technical environment preferred)
  • Commercial judgement and solid interpersonal skills with ability to influence and challenge at a director and senior manager level
  • Experience working in a matrix structure, with an aptitude for pioneering new ways of working and proven ability to implement change
  • A self-motivated leader who takes the initiative and works collaboratively with a track record of motivating and developing a diverse range of stakeholders across cultural boundaries
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop a team

This role requires strong business English (written & spoken) and will involve regular travel across Europe.
